Yet, in contrast to the Internet
world where search engines have
become adopted by most PC users,
there exists no easy or comprehensive
way for the user to initiate a
search for this content from the
mobile device itself.

Taptu’s service is unique
in several respects. It created
a new benchmark in relevancy of
results, user experience and action
ability of those results:
- Relevancy. The Taptu
service platform extracting
important information from selected
web sites and web feeds, and
presenting it in mobile-digestible
form (such as a ringtone listing,
or a news summary that fits
within a single screen view).
This provides easily readable
and immediately useful search
results for a large number of
common mobile searches –
a big departure from the lists
of links served up by today’s
major search engines. We are
prioritising results from mobile-friendly
Internet sites, moving away
from the transcoding of PC-formatted
web pages that is the preferred
approach of existing mobile
search services.
- Actionability. Unlike
existing mobile search services,
Taptu results are always actionable.
This means that there is always
a natural follow-on action available
to the user when he or she has
found the right results. This
action might be to complete
the purchase of a ringtone or
game. Alternatively it might
be to click on a sponsored link
leading to an advertiser’s
mobile Internet site. The growth
of keyword-driven mobile advertising
will parallel the growth of
keyword-driven Internet advertising
and Taptu will be a leader in
developing this market.
- User Experience.
With our mobile user experience
expertise, Taptu is also creating
a new user interaction model
for mobile search. This model
enables timely delivery of packages
of screen-sized results (‘Result
Packs’) that can be rapidly
clicked through. The combined
effects of summaries and packages
provide a clean, fast and relevant
mobile service that will be
a delight to use.
