Fixed
Time & Price
Description: in cooperation
with Client,
InnoInco analyzes a problem, elicits
and formalizes requirements, defines
and fixes project scope and provides
detailed estimation of effort
and time needed to complete the
project. Initial project budget
and schedule is based on agreed
functionality scope. All changes
out of the initial scope will
pass through standard InnoInco’s
change management procedures.
InnoInco controls the entire project
lifecycle, but Customer is free
to negotiate priorities, milestones
and acceptance criteria at the
initial stage.
Condition: all major
requirements must be well defined,
documented and estimated before
Implementation starts.
Advantages: In this model
Client
knows beforehand project price
and timeline and shouldn’t worry
about any additional payment,
unless He wants to change the
scope.
Drawbacks: Client
has to pay for analysis and design
activities. Client
cannot freely operate with the
scope and priorities.
Fixed Time & Price
Iterative
Description: this approach
is close to the “Fixed Time &
Price” model, with one difference
– InnoInco does not drill into
accurate analysis of entire project
at the beginning. Instead we do
a quick brainstorming to identify
key needs and requirements, divide
project into a short iterations
(2-4 weeks), and start implementation
immediately. While we are working
on iteration, we negotiate the
detailed scope, budget and timeline
for the next iteration. Before
iteration starts Client
is free to add new functionality
or change pre-planned one. Thus
final product evolves from the
initial prototypes through multiple
iterations. The result of each
iteration is delivered as fully
tested and operable product, which
Customer can asses and take a
decision concerning further direction
of the project.
Condition: Iterative
approach is acceptable for customer.
Advantages: Client
can freely operate with project
scope and priorities, and can
see results quickly. This approach
is very handy for Client
in case when it’s difficult to
define an exact requirements and
needs until Client
has possibility to touch the working
system. The resulting product
meets the highest expectations
and exactly satisfies business
needs.
Drawbacks: Contracting
Side knows the exact price and
timeline only for the next iteration;
price and timeline for the rest
of the project are approximate.
Time & Material
Description: Client
defines the task or problem. InnoInco
delivers a solution and charges
Contracting Side for the actual
effort spent on weekly, monthly
or per-task basis. This process
can be iterative. It will work
well if Client
needs a research work or He wants
to start the development immediately
while has not created sufficient
documentation.
Condition: Time &Material
approach is acceptable for customer.
Advantages: Extensive
requirements specifications are
not needed. Customer can flexibly
control
work direction.
Drawbacks: required resources
are not available immediately
unless Contracting Side prepays
agreed minimal amount of work
(fixed number of man-hours per
week or per month).
Dedicated Team
Description: Client
controls the entire project and
InnoInco is simply a resource
provider. It means our developers
and/or other staff work 8 hours
per work-day, 5 work-days per
week to deliver the required results.
Customer is charged for the work-time
spent. He can hire individual
professionals or established teams.
In each team we assign team leader
or project manager who is responsible
for task assignments, communication
and reporting. Customer indicates
what kind of resources he needs
(specialization, skills, experience).
Contracting Side assesses resources’
CVs and controls who is working
for them. Client
has the full control over dedicated
team. Dedicated team members are
completely involved in Client
tasks.
Condition: Dedicated
Team approach is acceptable for
customer.
Advantages: You control
all aspects of project implementation.
Team acts as you own offsite department.
Team members are not involved
in other projects and work only
on your tasks.
Drawbacks: --
Combination model
Prototyping - Time & Material,
then Fixed Time & Price development
InnoInco is opened to discuss
other customer proposed combination
models.
