Established on January
1, 1929 the National Academy
of Sciences is the scientific
research center of Belarus.
The Academy is at the core
of all major scientific
activities in the country,
many of which are initiated
and promoted by the Academy
to ensure the development,
realization and coordination
of fundamental research
in Belarus, to advance the
application of scientific
achievements, and to increase
the influence of science
on development of education
and spiritual culture. Internationally
acclaimed, it unites highly-skilled
scientists from dozens of
specialties (over 17,000
researchers and supporting
personnel) and incorporates
a number of research centers
and laboratories. |

Byelorussian National Technical
University is the national
flagman of the technical
higher education in Belarus
(the former Soviet Union).
In the course of its 80-year
history it has also become
a historical and cultural
center of the nation by
accumulating the knowledge
and experience of many generations
of its staff and turning
into a unique scientific
and pedagogical institution.
The BNTU has contributed
to founding 6 technical
higher education institutions,
which have later developed
into technical universities
in different regions of
Belarus. At present the
University offers education
in 71 technical specialties,
among the academic staff
are 1500 professors, senior
lecturers, doctors and candidates
of sciences, many of whom
are famous scientists and
honored figures of the national

The Byelorussian State
University (BSU) is a national
university, the largest
and most comprehensive of
the higher education institutions
in Belarus (the former Soviet
Union). Founded in October,
30, 1921 and located in
the capital city, BSU has
a very broad educational
responsibility. The demands
on the state university
are not only quantitative
concerning the breadth of
studies - they are also
qualitative. BSU is charged
to be the leadership establishment
in the national education
system. The curriculum offers
teaching in about 90 specialties;
19 faculties and 172 departments
work within the University
along with several research
institutes and national
science centers. |
